Hatchet 3: Hatchet 3 Horror Film is the third installment of the Hatchet film series. It is a story about Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film features Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow, and Rileah Vanderbilt as Misty.
Its utilization of special effects is the main feature of the film. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which heavily rely on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly horrific moments throughout the film.
Kane Hodder stands out as an formidable villain. The cast provides a solid performance. The dialogue is reminiscent of an 1980s slasher film. It is witty and funny enough. There are also moments of humor throughout the movie that add humor to all the bloody action.
The budget for the film was restricted to just one million dollars. That means a lot of locations featured in the film are re-used from earlier films. A boat house is used twice and most of it Decker Shado Hatchet 3 (2013) feels recycled from other films. If you've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this can sometimes make the movie appear familiar.
Overall, I was impressed by Hatchet 3 even though it felt very similar to prior entries in this series--it provided lots of bloody thrills as well as entertaining performances from the actors.
